At DSKL, students are required to undergo two weeks of work experience in Year 9. This form of an internship typically takes place during the oral Abitur exams period in May.

Preparatory and follow-up work on the internship takes place during the regular social studies and German and English lessons. The student and his/her parents are responsible for finding a suitable company. The school has prepared a list of organizations which previous students had interned with and where students can research possible enterprises in various industries.

Students will be prepared for the job application process (cover letter, CV, job application, etc.) during German lessons. For the sake of documenting the work experience, students are required to complete a report at the end of their traineeship.

Students will be paid a visit by one of their teachers during their work experience at the respective organization. Upon completion of the internship, students will share their experience in an oral presentation.
