About DSKL
The German School Kuala Lumpur (DSKL) is a German school abroad supported by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA). Its sponsor is the German School Association Malaysia (DSM).
The primary aim of the DSKL is to provide its students with an education aligned with German educational objectives and German school-leaving qualifications. In addition, our students are encouraged to gain intercultural experiences by becoming familiar with the history, culture, and daily life of our host country, Malaysia.
In principle, children of all nationalities can be admitted to DSKL starting from kindergarten, provided they have sufficient knowledge of the German language. However, children with Malaysian citizenship require prior approval from the Malaysian Ministry of Education. For children whose families do not live in the Greater Kuala Lumpur area, we also offer the option of staying in our supervised student boarding facility in Mont Kiara.
DSKL values
Sustainability
For over 40 years, we have not only made a lasting impact — we actively practice sustainability!
We are very proud of our long-serving local employees, our appreciation for our staff, as well as our projects on sustainability and environmental protection! We have a teacher initiative dedicated to sustainability and also a student club. Our students are up to date on this topic and firmly committed to living as plastic-free and environmentally conscious as possible! Even excursions to the recycling center are popular!
Quality
We offer high-quality education — made in Germany,
but with sunshine and palm trees!
Repeated recognition as an Excellent German School Abroad by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA), internal training programs, structured pedagogical quality management (PQM), and a well-equipped German library — no effort is too great when it comes to providing our students with the best possible education in Malaysia.
Health
Wealth is a lot, contentment is more, health is everything!
With a wide range of sports programs from badminton to volleyball, extracurricular activities such as yoga, swimming, sports, games, and fun, health competitions, high-quality air filters, balanced lunch packages, nutrition education, and trained counselors and support teachers, we promote health as a core value for our youth every single day.
Intercultural Learning
We don’t see other cultures as foreign! Intercultural exchange and learning with and from one another — that’s what we truly excel at!
With many mixed-nationality families, 13 different nationalities, bilingual subjects, and excursions to Cambodia, Singapore, or Japan, we are at the forefront of intercultural exchange and prepare our students for an international career.
Creativity
Imagination is more important than knowledge, because knowledge is limited!
With our Evening of the Arts, the opportunity for students to publish articles in the KL Post magazine or our yearbook, the Open Stage, student bands, our orchestra, the theatre club, and various art competitions, we offer our students every opportunity to express their creativity. Our students love this freedom of expression, and the results make our campus life so colorful and lively.
Progress
The only constant in life is change!
Whether it’s iPad equipment, online learning, modern smart boards, top-quality air filters, or continuous and up-to-date improvements — we stay on the ball, consistently! For us, progress also means keeping our marketing and management up to date. For example, we plan to offer our website and email signatures as a marketing platform for our partners.
Community
We are family!
In small classes and on a cozy and easily manageable campus, students feel right at home with us. Lunch is served in the schoolyard, and everyone knows each other here. But it’s not only our students, teachers, and staff who enjoy a strong sense of unity through clubs, events, and our manageable school size. We also maintain close and friendly relationships with our partners from the German Embassy, the German-Speaking Community KL, and partner companies.
