Eurocampus

The Eurocampus Kuala Lumpur is a shared school campus jointly used by the Lycée Français de Kuala Lumpur (LFKL) and the German School Kuala Lumpur (DSKL). Both schools are located on the same grounds and share key facilities such as the cafeteria, sports areas, specialist laboratories, and outdoor spaces. While each school maintains its own language, culture, and curriculum, their close collaboration and numerous joint projects create a vibrant place of European unity, intercultural learning, and a truly lived sense of community.

The idea of collaboration dates back to the early 2000s and was brought up again in 2021 with renewed enthusiasm – and with the active support of the French and German embassies in Malaysia.

Following a comprehensive feasibility study in 2022 and an extensive consultation process, a declaration of intent signed by both schools and the ambassadors marked the official start of the partnership. In early 2023, parental approval paved the way for two major agreements: the Governance Agreement (ECCA) in September and the Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) in November, which formally integrated the DSKL as a co-owner of the campus grounds.

To warmly welcome students and staff, the entire campus underwent a major redesign. On 18 February 2025, the DSKL officially moved into its new home on the shared campus.

The entire process was supported by the constructive involvement of the Malaysian Ministry of Education, whose valuable assistance played a key role in the success of the project.

Despite sharing the same infrastructure, both schools maintain their respective educational programs and cultural identities. Yet, the true spirit of the Eurocampus comes to life through numerous educational collaborations: students from both schools work together on artistic, cultural, scientific, and athletic projects, planned and guided by mixed teams. Daily interactions in shared spaces such as the cafeteria, common rooms, playgrounds, and sports facilities not only foster encounters, but also nurture a deep appreciation for Europe’s core values – cooperation, tolerance, and unity in diversity.

The Eurocampus offers a dynamic, multicultural learning environment that places openness, educational exchange, and the shared use of resources at its core. It stands as a vibrant symbol of the Franco-German partnership, bringing European educational values into Malaysia’s international school landscape.

With the official conferral of the “Eurocampus” label by the AEFE and the ZfA – the respective networks of French and German schools abroad – this unique collaboration has now received international recognition. The distinction not only affirms the high standards of education, culture, and community, but also the shared European values on which this project is built.

We are proud to open a new chapter in education as the sixth Eurocampus worldwide – a place where European partnership is lived every day and a driving force for intercultural and educational innovation in Malaysia.
