6th Parents Letter in the year 2008/2009 (Translated by students of Grade 11)

Dear Parents,
From now on you will always find the dates in the beginning of this letter:
Parent-teacher-Evening on the 18.11.08 from 6pm-9pm. Please tell us via telephone or have your children put your name into the lists at the reception.
Open Stage on the 27.11 at 7.30 pm in the theatre room of our school
The annual soccer match of DSKL will take place on the 29.11.08
More than half a year before the 30-year anniversary of our school and the prom for our Abiturienten and Realschueler, some groups are already busy with the preparation. There are regular sessions of the planning committee and their subcommittees, posters are being created and a “Flyer” is designed, which will announce the celebration that will take place on the 6th of June 2009.
An important component of this preparation is the work on the “Festschrift”, in which the school life of the last 30 years will to be portrayed. Plenty of documents of the school's history are available.
Other preparations concern the sponsorship, because of course our prom can only be a success, if it’s supported by companies which have a connection to the German speaking society.
If you have the interest, the desire and the time, you are cordially invited to participate in the preparations for the school anniversary / prom which will be a charity ball at the same time. Surpluses from the ticket sales and from the intakes will be invested to support the aid of poor children and their education. Further information can be found on our homepage and on the invitation cards which are currently being prepared.
In the past year, some time before Christmas, our primary school children really enjoyed the after school readings we had. Some mothers and Mrs. Kafka – a former teacher at our school – had volunteered to read their favorite stories. This year, we would like to offer this event as well. Therefore we are looking for dedicated readers. If interested, please contact Mrs. Fam who can be found at the library or Mrs. Moschner. We’re looking forward to your contribution!
Here is some more information concerning the Open Stage, taking place on 27.11.2008 at 19.30 pm in the theatre room of DSKL.
There will be some short films, which we presented at the film festival of the Goethe institute and also a poetry slam, with creative texts involving the number 30. The school band will also perform with a Malaysian Jazz star, Nawaja who will also present two solos. We will also be presenting the poster designs for the 30th anniversary of DSKL. This will be presented by students of the upper classes.
Don’t miss this exciting event and please help further the creativity of your children by attending this event.
And now some more details concerning soccer:
The annual soccer tournament of the German School will take place on the 29th November 2008; many international and local schools will participate. Just like last year teams from the German School Singapore will attend. For this reason we are looking for host families for about 25 students.
The teams will arrive on Friday the 28th November 2008 around 5.00pm and will depart on Sunday morning (30th November 2008).
The host families will have to take the students to the tournament (Futsal Centre Petaling Jaya No.4 Jalan 19/1) and pick them up after the games.

GSSKL Information:
In preparation of the AGS Charity Bazaar on November 30th, from 18:00-21:00 in KLPac, the team needs cardboard boxes with a square surface area (16x16 inch) and 8-10 inch in height for packing Advent wreaths. If you are able to provide such boxes, please contact Silke Wulf (HP 012-243 2612).
The Gourmetgefluester on Saturday, 15.11.2009 will feature a traditional European meat platter at restaurant Euro-Deli in Jalan Yap Kwan Seng in Kuala Lumpur.

The German Speaking Society's New Year's Reception will take place on January 17th, 2009 at Carcosa Seri Negara. Tickets will be available at the AGS Charity Bazaar.
