What are we? Who are we?

Our tasks and functions:

The Parents’ Council represents the parents of all Kindergarten- and school children at DSKL. We have reconstituted at the beginning of the school year and would like to introduce ourselves briefly.

We support the exchange of information between all parents and the school management, school administration, the teachers and educators. The Parent Association collects the ideas and suggestions of parents and forwards them to the school management, school administration and the teachers and educators.

At the beginning of the school year parents choose for each class or nursery group a parent representative and one deputy. In the first meeting of all parent representatives the parents’ council will be elected from among representatives and deputies of the Parent Association. The Parents’ Council is composed of a parent representative for each grade, i.e. Kindergarten, Elementary, Secondary I and II Secondary together. For each member of the parents’ council, a deputy is chosen as well. The four members of the parents’ council then choose a chairman from among themselves.

The Parent Association meets at regular intervals (usually monthly) with the principal to discuss current issues and to convey and to represent the concerns of parents. If required, members of the extended School and Kindergarten management and the School administration are invited to attend as well. The chairman of the Parents Advisory Council or a deputy appointed by him is entitled to participate partially in the board meetings without voting rights.

Main tasks of the parent advisory board:
  • Promote the participation of parents in all school matters
  •  Represent the interests of parents - Advisory activities in School affairs (without voting rights)
  • Collect suggestions, ideas, improvements and additional proposals of the parents on various topics
  • Contribute to the improvement of the school's external relations (sports facilities, design of the classroom, setting up of voluntary associations ...)

We see ourselves as an active part of the kindergarten and school life and see ourselves representing the interests of the children and parents. With our engagement we would like to support and empower you as parents and guardians.

To cope with additional tasks, independent of the parents' association, various committees were formed, which consist mainly of volunteering parents. These are our Festival Committee, School Committee and Food Committee. The committees and their staff will be available for questions and suggestions you may have.

We would like to ensure the well-being of our children at the German School Kuala Lumpur.

The Parents’ Council is always open for your concerns. We want active parents! Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The Parents’ Council wishes all the children, parents, teachers and other staff of our school a happy and successful school year 2011/12!
