Twentyfirst and last Parent Letter of the School Year 2007/08
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Parents,
this week passed quickly due to report card meetings and fare well parties, the most important being the official date of handing out reports to our graduates in the presence of German Ambassador Mr Jess. After the vin d’ honneur in front of our school building we went on in a more luxurious place, sundowning at the Luna-Bar and dining in the Thai Restaurant of Hotel Panglobal.
Both elementary and secondary school students are actively working on their extracurricular activities these days. Wherever you look you see relaxed expressions in peoples faces excepting some of the administrative and cleaning staff who rather see the chaos students are about to leave behind. Some results of this week will be presented on our homepage and during the year end celebration at school on Tuesday 1st of July. The program:
15:00 bis 17:00: Fleamarket on the school yard
16:00 bis 18:00: Play Street especially for our youngest in the gym
19:00 bis 20:00: Presentation of results from projects; this includes our Kindergarten
From 20:00: Dinner and Band music
For more information please see my 20th Parents’ Newsletter. Please remember that your children can not be supervised by our teaching staff during the celebration. Our teachers will also celebrate and wouldn’t be able to guard every child. Last year, some minor accidents happened.
Our survey of students’ and Parents’ wishes concerning co-curricualr activities (CCAs) of the all-day school programme has provided a fairly clear pictures of desired CCAs. The weekend before school starts you will be emailed a list of CCAs to choose from.
The last day of school, July 2nd 2008, lessons end for all kindergarten and school students at 11:30 am. At school, any teaching will be done by the class teachers. As every year, there will be fare well wishes and the report cards will be handed out. From kindergarten the bus will leave at 11:15 am.
First day at school will be August 18th. We start with a meeting of all students and surely many parents in front of our school building. Class teachers will proceed to their respective rooms to hand out lesson plans and provide all necessary information. Monday and Tuesday of the first week, lessons end at 1:20 pm for all students. All day school programm starts Wednesday for all students grade 3 and higher.
For new students, lessons begin August 22nd 10 am after school opening service.
There is a new alumni homepage for former and present DSKL Students: http://dskl.alumniportal.org . Please register!
A reminder for future students of Grade 8:
You will need notebooks with wireless LAN for your daily lessons. Any questions please ask Mr Geus.
The next Parents’ Newsletter is due on August 19th, when school has started.
My best regards and best wishes to all of you for happy and rewarding holidays and a safe return to our school and Petaling Jaya.
