Third Parents’ Newsletter in the School Year 2008/2009
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Parents,
The most important changes concerning our new school year having done this should be a fairly short letter. Some time was dedicated to sports and partying last Saturday when the GSSKL invited for a day of sports and BBQ at our school. Any liquids lost in sports were easily replenished and the food was marvelous thanks to the Roelli family. Our 12th graders worked as waiters so as to get some extra money together for their trip to Australia next summer.
There are some things that need to be told: Some of the emails sent off from our mail server did not reach parents, in part due to technical problems concerning mail servers, but also because we didn’t have the correct address. Please inform us of any changes concerning addresses and phone numbers, and if necessary, read my letters on our DSKL homepage.
Kids taking individual music lessons need guidance by a parent when waiting for their lesson to begin, unless they are sufficiently acustomed to studying on their own in the library.
Family Jess, the family of our former ambassador, wrote to me about an English speaking father from Myanmar (Birma) who would like his son to become a student of our school. This man has been working as a cook for embassies all his life and is now looking for work because presently there aren’t any vacancies at embassies. He has excellent reports and also offers his services as a butler or driver. If you have any ideas of employment, please notify our secretary.
Our PE teacher Ms Rauch informed me about a German-Malaysian Volleyball Group playing at the DSKL every Saturday from 4pm to 6pm.If interested please mail Ms Klopfer at reisbrig@hotmail.com
The last two days before our Fall holidays about 15 principals and experts from other German speaking schools in South East Asia will be participating in a training on Education Quality Managing. This venture will prepare principals for the upcoming school inspection performed by the German Department of Foreign Schools.
Students of grades 5 to 12 will receive their customary report for the first 6 weeks of school shortly before the holidays start on September 26th.
October 13h through 15th there will be “Austrian Days” at Universiti Putra Malaysia, featuring lectures on diverse subjects concerning this German speaking country. We plan to attend a “speech contest” to be held on the 16th in the same place.
Best regards Dr. W. Munzinger, principal
